Bath Building Society Serve Up Ace Trophy
A new tennis tournament for Bath, sponsored by Bath Building Society, is set to pit the best local teams against one another for the first time this November.
The Bath Building Society's Veteran's Tennis Team Cup, will see eight local teams battle it out at the Lansdown Tennis Club, with the hope of being crowned the first ever champions in the event.
The event has been organised due to popular demand, and will see players aged 50 or over from Lansdown, Bloomfield, Bath Spa, Combe Grove Manor, Civil Service, Team Bath and Writhlington Sports Club compete for the grand trophy.
The tournament will take place on the weekend of 15th and 16th November, and it is hoped that it will become a regular event in the Bath tennis calendar.
Colin Selby from Lansdown Tennis Club who are hosting the event said, "We hope this tournament will be well received and that it will become an annual competition in Bath. This is the first time that the major clubs from across Bath have been involved in one tournament, as usually they play in several different leagues."

"We're very grateful to Bath Building Society for agreeing to sponsor the event and to provide the grand trophy which will be presented to the winning team. Bath has got a very competitive and thriving tennis scene, so I'm sure there will be plenty of interest in the tournament."
A celebration lunch is also planned for the Sunday as part of the competition's final day, and spectators are welcome to come and watch the action as it unfolds through the day on Saturday and on Sunday morning.
Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of Bath Building Society added, "Bath has a thriving sports scene, and with so many tennis clubs in the city it's great to see them all coming together to compete against each other for the first time. Bath Building Society is pleased to be providing the trophy for the event which we hope will become a regular fixture in Bath's sporting calendar, and we wish the very best of luck to all teams
